Hobo Marc
This beautifully high-maintenance purse is the Leather Hobo from Marc Jacobs.
It’s a white calfskin hobo with gold hardware and tan stitching. The clasp is one of those old-fashioned slidey-locks and the strap is adjustable.
It looks and feels like a luxurious treat of a purse – so classy, and so perfect for the season!

Chasing Amy
There’s nothing like a simple brown leather bag – and this upcoming season, Marc Jacobs has one of the finest.
It’s called the Amy Hobo, a deliciously chocolatey-brown calfskin leather purse with a gorgeous suede lining and gold hardware.
The zips at the front are not mere decoration – they open into two very handy pockets. The old-fashioned push lock closure completes whole classic design.
A beautiful purse for summer or fall!

Veruka Jacobs
Every once in a rare while, a purse will come along that on first glance inspires pure, unadulterated falling-in-love joy.
This right here is one of those purses. It’s the Veruka Shopper (yes, another shopper!) from Marc Jacobs… and, oh my. Just take a look at it.
Everyday we feature purses that are seriously gorgeous, sophisticated expensive holy grail purses – and then along comes a bright red tote with a dark-haired Tim Burtonesque heroine on the front that just bowls us right over.
I love this bag. I love it because it is just absolutely positively hilarious, unique, individual, sharp, kooky (so very kooky!) and just… so funny!
How can anyone resist?!

Marc Attack!
Looks like those crazy kids at Marc Jacobs have been going a little crazy with the art supplies – as you can see from this rather bizarre looking purse.
It’s the Smudge Print Core Canvas Fran Bag, a sort of totish shoulder bag made of canvas with a leather trim and brass hardware.
It’s pretty funky looking, if a little self-consciously so, and extremely durable.
Somehow, I see either a very young arty lass carrying this purse, or a very old oil-painter dame.
It’s colourful but not bright, so a very nice alternative to some of the more brash colours we have adorning the boutiques.
Really this sort of purse is perfect for summer sunshine, simply because the sun does tend to make everything look that little bit better…
Possibly not for everyone, but for the people with whom it does fit, it will be just perfect!

Icy Marc
This is a really lovely, unsual purse.
It’s called the Sienna Icy Leather Zipper, from the ever-brilliant Marc Jacobs. Certainly one of the more different-looking purses we’ve seen this year – beautifully grained leather with a sparkly cold sheen to it, a gorgeously thick shoulder strap, suede interior, adjustable width and gold hardware.
It’s something of a cross between a hobo and a satchel, not quite here or there but striking just the same.
It’s a vibrant, stylish purse, right up to the standards you can expect from Marc Jacobs – plus if you see anyone with it, you get to yell, "Your Zipper is undone!" Hilarious!

Jacob’s Kaleidoscope
This purse is a very sweet nod to the Victorian and Edwardian fashions all over the catwalks.
It’s the Kaleidoscope Flower Velvet Hobo from Marc Jacobs – a lovely bag made of soft velvet with a leather trim and brass hardware. The front is decorated with the flower applique design, and the whole purse is ever so slightly ruched with a zip and tassels.
It’s available in black, tan, and the blue pictured here - somehow much more special than the other two (after all, black and tan bags are a dime a dozen – finding a gorgeous bag in this sort of blue is an extremely occurance).
Beautifully old-fashioned and luxurious… Valentines is on Tuesday, folks!

Jacob’s Carry-On
Now here’s a bag thats gives the world assurance of a bag.
It’s the Medium Satin Bauletto Bag from Marc Jacobs — a glory of gorgeous leather, trim canvas, golden hardware and an adjustable strap.
This is a purse that can be relied on — everything about it is firm and strong, yet glossy and beautiful.
The chocolate tones are saved from drabness by the sheer luxury of the material: it’s a rich, wholesome bag that is charmingly grown-up and worldly — just look at that luggage tag on the front.
A lovely, practical purse from Marc Jacobs.

Jacobs’ Skittles
You may have noticed that very bright, brash, blinding coloured bags are all the rage this season.
Now as much as we love all the yellows and pinks and greens and blues, not all designers can pull it off without looking cheap — and, as anyone with a Balenciaga will tell you, sometimes it feels as if the leather itself suffers.
Not so with Marc Jacobs.
This purse — the Daria bag — is one of those vibrantly-shaded purses, yet the leather is beautifully soft and supple.
It has a cherry-red suede lining, silver hardware, and of course that yummy dark purple colour. The silver stamped buckle on the front is very retro-chic, very cute…
Just another gorgeously crafted bag from Marc Jacobs to join their already-fantastic collection.

Simply Marc
There’s nothing particlarly eye-catching about this Marc Jacobs tote — in comparison to the more colourful purses we have been featuring of late, I mean. Sometimes you just have to get back to basics to remember what it’s all about, and that’s why this tote is so perfect.
It’s made of beautiful soft calf leather, with classic brass hardware and twill lining. The inside is (mercifully) divided up into sections so there’s far less digging around trying to find keys or a pen.
Although this purse is sold as a tote, it seems to me to be far more of a shoulder or handle bag — extremely sophisticated and stylish, in a gorgeous chocolatey brown that won’t ever go out of season.
This is a ‘staple’ purse — a completely worthy investment.

Marc Gets My Goat
I’m coming to greatly appreciate the careful thought that goes into the design of almost every single Marc Jacobs purse I see. Somehow, they always manage to hit the mark with me — instant love-at-first-sight purses rather than hmmm-this-is-growing-on-me purses.
You can see why with this funky little tote from the new Drummed Leather collection: a very moreish goatskin leather with canvas lining and brass hardware. That buckle in front (which, charming as it undoubtably is in appearance, might not be quite practical in todays permanent rush-hour world) is actually just a very convincing front for a hidden push-lock underneath.
It’s small but still roomy enough for essentials, both classic and refreshingly edgy in design. Technically it’s a tote rather than a shoulder bag but hey, a rose by any other name, right?
Durable, stylish, gorgeous. Merry Christmas to you, Marc!
