Here’s a delightfully decadent little purse from Asprey – it’s called the Swirl Muffin Bag, and it’s quite the cute little evening accessory.

The material is a rich, velvet-soft suede with a crescent handle and Swarovski crystal swirl-designs on the front.

It’s an extremely sweet little thing – not just because of the sparkly Swarovski’s (is there anything left that isn’t adorned with Swarovski’s?) but because of the old-fashioned, almost Victorian shape to it.

Plus it’s called the Muffin Bag! That is just the most adorable name I have heard for a purse in a very long time.

Asprey Alligator

Now, here’s something you don’t see every day.

This lovely little clutch is from Asprey’s classic Bond Street collection — it’s made of soft creamy calfskin with straps of orange — yes orange! — alligator leather on the outside and silver hardware.

It’s really nice to have such a very bright, seasonal colour toned down by the simplicity of the ivory — iby carrying it you’re giving fashion a respectful nod without succumbing to it completely.

A very stylish, very beautiful made purse from Asprey, who are fast becoming an ArmCandy favourite!

My admiration for the ladies and gentlemen at Asprey grows by the day.

In an age where even Molten Brown has been bought out by a Japanese company and Burberry-wearers have been banned from certain pubs for being affiliated with British thug-youth-twat, Asprey flies the flag for good old fashioned English manners, class, and style.

Let’s focus on the English Lady today. Just imagine her, in the autumn of her years, perhaps a grandmother by now. She will have hit the prime of her youth in the swinging sixties, a time when London was the place everyone wanted to be. She probably wore bright funky red minidresses and platform boots, and no doubt swinging from her arm was a lovely red leather purse that dad got her for her twenty-first birthday.

Fast-forward forty years and the same woman is walking out of Asprey’s with a lovely red coat and the same purse triumphantly on her arm — only this time it’s the real thing: stunning alligator skin in a vibrant pillar-box red, exquisitely designed and crafted – much like the Lady herself. Perhaps a gift from herself to herself in honour of growing up to be so fabulous, perhaps a birthday or anniversary treat…

Yes, some things are definitely worth waiting for.

"Nothing very bad could happen to you there, " says Holly Golightly about Tiffany’s, and so say I about Asprey’s of London. A short walk from Green Park tube station, it’s one of London’s most famous jewellers. They also have a beautiful range of luxury goods, including leather purses.

Asprey’s has caught my attention of late simply because of the new advertisement campaign with Keira Knightley (see this month’s Vogue, Tatler et al). It’s always nice to be reminded of them, just as it’s always nice to be reminded of Molten Brown. These are English designs which will never go out of fashion simply because they exist beyond fashion, on a pedestal where they can’t be touched. It’s not often I throw the word timeless around, but here you go. Asprey = timeless.

Classic English luxury, with classic English luxury pricing. But oh, you get your money’s worth, it might be worth saving for years and years just to own something like this… assuming you have the right doggy (and even if you don’t!)…
