Pretty Pucci Power
Is it too early to be doing beach hobos (or beach anything?)
Either way, you’re getting one! And just look at it – isn’t it pretty? Even if you have no beach plans for another few months this bag is well worth investing in.
It’s the Terry Beach Hobo from Emilio Pucci – a terry-canvas hobo with everything you could possibly need for the beach space-wise. It looks delicate, but this in one bag that will withstand some serious natural damage – I’m not kidding here.
The colour is delicately lovely, and as far Pucci’s spring collection goes it’s actually pretty subdued.
All in all a real sweetheart of a bag, and a really nice take on the hobo.

Dooney Moon
I love love love all the gorgeous spring designs that are springing up from everywhere, and I especially love Dooney & Bourke’s new stuff.
The purse pictured is called the Moon Bag, from the Dooney & Bourke Signature Quilt collection.
It’s classic Dooney & Bourke goodage with an adjustable strap and pockets inside and out, fully lined and with leather trim.
It comes in a bunch of delicious colours, but I chose this banana yellow one because it reminded me of that scene in <i>Grease</i> where Doody tells Frenchie she looks like a "beautiful blonde pineapple!"
What a movie. What a purse!

Vintage Fendi
There are It Bags, and then there are the hardcore covetilicious must-have die-hard purses, and the Fendi Spy is firmly in that camp.
Like the Chloe Paddington or the Balenciaga Le Dix, it is just not going to go anywhere anytime soon – instead, we have newer, fresher versions coming up season in and season out and they only seem to become more and more wanted.
The purse pictured is from Fendi’s Spring collection – it’s the Embroidered Denim Spy Bag, an absolutely stunning purse made of denim, cotton canvas, lux lining, crystals hand-sown into the design itself, leather and the Fendi sign moulded into the whole vintage look.
The vintage look itself is going to stay with us until Fall – surprising, because that will make almost a whole year of vintage throwbacks in terms of fashion.
This Spy is one of the seasons most striking ‘popular’ purses, so watch how fast it sells out after a few more pictures are printed of the Lohans’ and Bartons’ proudly displaying it.
Gorgeous, luxurious, and almost painfully cool…

Coach Vader
I didn’t know it was possible for a straw tote to look evil, but apparently I was mistaken.
What we have here is the Coach Legacy Straw Tote in large - just a simple straw tote with leather trim and the usual cellphone / key / wallet pockets.
I like this tote, strange-looking as it may be, because it looks perfect for a understated gym bag, or beach bag, or baby-nonsense-carrying bag. One of those all-purpose bags that won’t clash with your outfit and won’t scream its presence to the world.
With one little Coach tag on display, it really is a lovely designer sling-along.

Creamy Paddington
I know we’ve done the Paddington before, but we’re having a little recap today.
Why?
Because this cream colour is absolutely positively stunning, and also because it’s sold out everywhere. Everywhere.
Not just the cream – all the new spring colours, even the dark grey: gone, gone, gone. So unless you’re happy carrying a fake, there will be no new Paddingtons for a while. And getting to look at a very pretty picture of it will help those pangs of longing just a little, no?
Gorgeously soft Italian leather, brass hardware, the Chloe padlock… oh hell, it’s a <i>Paddington</i>. You know what you’re getting here.
Covet covet covet!

Juicy Apple
This crunchy-looking purse is the Juicy Couture Amy Baby Bag, a small little thing made of soft leather with silver chain hardware and the little Juicy Couture tag hanging proudly.
It’s got a nice big thick shoulder strap, so it will rest easy on you, and it’s the most gorgeous juicy green colour – sort of Robin Hood meets a skittle.
Very nice indeed!

And The Winner Is!
Christian Dior, courtesy of Best Actress winner Ms Reese Witherspoon, seen here wearing a Vintage Dior dress.
Now, not everyone is a fan of this dress, it must be said. More than a few rather harsh words have been printed about her taste and about how a whole team of stylists couldn’t tell her how to dress for her figure.
To them I say: who cares. There are so few times in a girls life that she gets to dress up like a princess and be treated like one – and a big fancy pants awards ceremony is one of them. So what if she looks like a wedding cake? It’s adorable!
And besides, did you see what Charlize Theron was wearing? I leave it to you.
Anyway, Dior. They have had a fantastic year so far – their Spring collection is absolutely gorgeous, they represent old-school quality and femininity, their label is more coveted by the day – and, best of all, they were the label on the best actress winner at the Academy Awards.
You have to hand it to them!
And you have to hand it to la Witherspoon – she didn’t make any demands from Dior in exchange for wearing one of their dresses on the red carpet – and let’s face it, as a best actress nominee she could have named her price. No, she went out there, found a dress, made some changes to it, and voila. Vintage Dior! Fantastic.

Which leads us to this very lovely purse here: it’s the
Dior D’Trick Jacquard Flap Clutch, made of leather trim, gold hardware, and classic jacquard logo print. The purse was designed as a homage for the timeless elegance of Old Hollywood, which makes it just perfect to round this week off.
Absolutely gorgeous!

Oscar Versace
The lovely Hilary Swank was one of few actresses who actually kept their word and wore the dress they promised they would for the Oscars – in this case, Versace.
Versace were perhaps the first fashion house to truly realise the ‘free’ exposure they could get by either loaning or giving a dress away for the Oscars – of course, everyone else caught on and now every run up to the Oscars is one big love-fest between designers and female celebrities.
Because there is so much competition for who wears what dress, who carries what purse, who wears which jewels, the Hollywood minxes will often change their minds at literally the 11th hour, causing a great deal of embarrassment for any designer who openly stated so-and-so would be wearing his or her dress.
So again, good for Hilary Swank and good for Versace!

The purse pictured here is the Denim And Croc Large Clutch, made of crocodile leather with gold hardware, silky satin lining and pulls and pockets in some rather unusual places. It’s a very unusual clutch, almost as if it’s aspiring to be something else.
Very glam, charming and not overly feminine either – just like Miss Swank herself, no?

Oscar Swarovski
I do love a good awards ceremony – looking at all the beautiful dresses, the shoes, the other halfs, marvelling at the week-long body primping that must have taken place before the women hit the red carpet.
As the dress code is <i>extremely</i> formal and fancypants, you won’t catch many of these lovely ladies trotting around with big slouchy Balenciaga bags – instead, it’s all about the formal evening clutches and little purses.
Now, a lot of the women were wearing Swarovski crystals – whether on their purses, as in the case of the glorious Dolly Parton, as jewellery, or, as in the case of the lovely Catherine Zeta-Jones Douglas, on their actual dresses.
I love the idea of giving a Judith Leiber purse as a present – it must be like receiving an extremely covetable bag and fancy jewellery at the same time.
The purse pictured is the Swarovski Floral Clutch from the crystal goddess herself – a crystal-studded little clutch with detachable gold chain and gold lining. It also comes with a separate mirror and coin purse – an extremely beautiful all-rounder, with perfect spring shades.
Hey, it’s one step closer to the red carpet, right?

Buffalo Bourke
Fresh from Dooney & Bourke’s new Spring collection, this is the Buffalo Mini Zip Top – a lovely little leather handbag with leather trim, silver hardware, one inside pocket and a brassy Dooney & Bourke sign on the front.
The best thing about this purse – and this is the best thing about Dooney & Bourke purses in general – is how big the colour selection is. I can’t imagine a person turning away because they loved the style of the bag but just couldnt find a colour to suit them.
The pink and white purse pictured is a favourite, but there are plenty more – the new Buffalo collection is just gorgeous.
Go start your spring in style!
